County Mayor’s Notes – April 15th, 2020

Economic Impact Payments

The IRS has launched web-based sites to help Americans with their Economic Impact Payments.

For those who filed a tax return in 2018 or 2019, they can check the status of their Economic Impact Payment HERE.

For those who are not required to file a 2018 or 2019 tax return, they can enter payment information HERE

For those Social Security recipients who do not file tax returns, they will NOT need to take any action in order to receive their check, as described HERE.

Also, the Department released short videos on the Payment for Non-Filers and Social Security Recipients

COVID-19 Update

According to the Tennessee Department of Health, 53 residents of Cumberland County have tested positive for COVID-19, the novel coronavirus, 806 have tested negative, and 14 have recovered.  Contact tracing is standard in all cases, so if you have been in close contact with someone that has tested positive, you will be notified.

These numbers are intended to be a brief summary of the information provided by the Tennessee Department of Health.  More detailed information can be found here:

Health Department Testing

Your primary care physician and the local Health Department are capable of testing for COVID-19.  The local Health Department is conducting drive through testing Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 3 PM.

Quarantine and Isolation

The following is from the Health Department and is the most up to date information we have concerning quarantine and isolation for people that test positive, and those that have had contact with positive cases.  If you have questions, please contact the Health Department at 484-6196.

If you are tested positive with symptoms, then discontinue isolation under the following conditions:

  1. At least 3 days (72 hours) have passed since recovery defined as resolution of fever without the use of fever-reducing medications.
  2. And improvement in respiratory symptoms like shortness of breath and at least 7 days have passed since symptoms first appeared.

Persons with laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 with no symptoms may discontinue isolation when at least 7 days have passed since the date of their first positive COVID-19 diagnostic test and no subsequent illness, provided they remain asymptomatic.

Have you been around anyone who has COVID-19?   Quarantine yourself at home 14 days after last contact with the COVID-19 person.

If you are essential worker, you can still work with a mask if you have been exposed to someone with COVID-19 and you have no symptoms.

Thank you for being part of the solution and thank you for the opportunity to serve as your County Mayor.  If you are interested in following the events of the county, please subscribe to my newsletter, and follow me on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
