County Mayor’s Notes – April 11th, 2020

According to the Tennessee Department of Health, forty residents of Cumberland County have tested positive for COVID-19, the novel coronavirus, 686 have tested negative, and 6 have recovered.  Contact tracing is standard in all cases, so if you have been in close contact with someone that has tested positive, you will be notified.

These numbers are intended to be a brief summary of the information provided by the Tennessee Department of Health.  More detailed information can be found here:

Who can be tested?

I have been asked the requirement for testing at the Health Department.  No doctor’s order is required, and even those assessed as having minimal risk can still be tested.  See the response below from our local Health Department:

Any questions regarding COVID-19 can be answered by your local health department at (931)484-6196.  We assess individuals and determine their level of risk of exposure and/or infection either by phone or during our drive thru assessment/testing.  We do not require a doctor’s order at this time.  Primary care physician’s offices can also perform the specimen collection, but it is recommended to call before you arrive.  If you are assessed to be low or high risk, you can still be tested at this time.  We will continue testing as long as we have the supplies to do so.

The local Health Department is still doing drive through testing from Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 3 PM.

Thank you for being part of the solution and thank you for the opportunity to serve as your County Mayor.  If you are interested in following the events of the county, please subscribe to my newsletter, and follow me on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
